CalmCar, a leading software-focused intelligent driving solutions provider, has reached a new milestone as its ConnectOne Robotaxi ("ConnectOne"), powered by the company’s L4 intelligent driving system, has been granted a public road testing permit by the Guangzhou Municipal Transportation Bureau.
The permit enables ConnectOne to undergo validation across complex urban settings—including intersections, tunnels, and mixed traffic scenarios—assessing the system’s safety, stability, and decision-making capabilities under real-road conditions.
ConnectOne is the world’s first L4 Robotaxi powered by Chinese processing hardware — Horizon Robotics’ Journey 6 automotive-grade processing hardware. Based on the SAIC Maxus MIFA 7 model and installed with Calmcar’s proprietary L4 intelligent driving system. It enables 360-degree high-precision environmental modeling and dynamic trajectory planning. ConnectOne possesses efficient decision-making capability in complex traffic scenarios, such as unprotected intersections and lane changes in congested traffic, while ensuring robust system performance in challenging conditions, such as sudden vehicle cut-ins and GNSS signal loss inside tunnels.
This advancement follows CalmCar’s earlier deployment of L4 Robobus systems in cities such as Chengdu and Suzhou. The launch of Robotaxi public road tests in Guangzhou marks the company’s strategic expansion into new application areas, further solidifying its integrated L4 validation network across China.
