CalmCar Launches Commercial Intelligent Charging Robot, Completing the Loop for L4 Autonomy

2025-11-07

As L4 autonomous driving reaches operational maturity, one remaining link to complete full autonomy is charging automation.

At CalmCar, we are determined to change that. Building on advanced visual recognition technology, we are pleased to release the Intelligent Charging Robot Arm — completing the loop for of L4 autonomous operation.

Featuring 360-degree precision recognition and a 1.3-meter operational radius, the Intelligent Charging Robot Arm is capable of locating charging ports at different heights and angles.

A dual-loop pneumatic and position sensing mechanism provides safety assurance, while the track-based sliding design allows one arm to serve more than four parking spaces — significantly reducing infrastructure costs and improving operational efficiency.

As an extension of our L4 product family—Robotaxi, Robobus, Robotruck, and Robosweeper—this intelligent charging system bridges the gap between intelligent driving and intelligent charging, closing the loop of autonomous operation.

In collaboration with CRRC Times Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd. (“CRRC Electric”), we have advanced the Intelligent Charging Robot Arm through pilot operation and early-stage commercial deployment, enabling reliable performance in real-world fleet environments. The project has also secured production orders from CRRC Electric, marking CalmCar’s entry into commercial application and extending this capability to bus depots, charging hubs, and fleet operations, supporting a wide range of autonomous vehicles.

For CalmCar, automation extends beyond driving — toward a complete, intelligent mobility ecosystem.
